My How to Get a Job ebook is here!

I threatened to do it, and now it's done: an e-book crammed full of all my thoughts on how to get a job.

If you've ever wished that you could look into the brain of a hiring manager to find out what you need to do to get hired, this guide is for you.

Inside, I give you step-by-step help through every stage of your job search, explaining at each step what a hiring manager is thinking and what they want to see from you.

You'll learn things like:
  • what hiring managers are looking for when they ask common interview questions
  • how to talk about sensitive issues when you interview -- firings, bad bosses, "overqualification," and more
  • how to avoid companies that aren't a good fit
  • 6 ways you might be sabotaging your job search
  • 2 ways you can turn rejection to your advantage
If you put the advice in this guide into action, I think you'll find your job search goes differently.

In fact, read what people have said about the interviewing video and companion guide I released a few weeks ago:
"This morning my husband had an interview. I bugged him for over a week about watching your video and he ignored me. Yesterday, I twisted his arm and finally got him to watch it. He liked the advice so much he watched it a second time. He really took it seriously and followed all of the advice you gave ... He just called me to tell me the interview was done and that it had been the best interview he had ever had." -- Kim J.
"When I first got to the interview and saw the interview questions (they had them written out for me), I thought they had taken their questions right from your guide! ... The fact that I had spent time thinking about my current job and how it relates to the job I had applied for, and about my work and areas that are strong vs areas that need improvement, really helped me in the interview. I didn't ramble as much as I normally do, I was able to present my strengths clearly and my weaknesses in as good of a light as possible, and I was happy to have a couple good questions for the interviewers at the end. No matter what happens, I am really glad I had your guide to help me through the process. Thank you again!" -- Becky N.
Still not sure? I'm offering a no-questions-asked 30-day money-back guarantee, because I don't want you to feel any risk.

For a very short time, my new e-book is available for 40% off!  You can buy it today for $14.95 -- but it'll go up to full price in just two days.

Hi, I'm interested in the book, but can you remind me what format you're offering it in and what, if any, DRM you're using? I don't see that info in this post. I want to be sure I can read it once I buy it. Thanks.

Kat, that completely made my day! Yay!

(And you know I'm going to have quote you next time I promote the book...)

Anonymous, it's a straight PDF with no DRM, and you shouldn't have any issues with it! (And I'll add something to the post clarifying this.)

I just purchased the book. I will certainly need it since my verbal job offer has apparently been retracted with no notice, reason, or further communication!!

I wish the offer was good until Friday--that's when I get paid.
Anyway, congrats on the ebook!

Maybe I'll extend it. Let me consult with my ebook guru, Ben Eubanks....

That would be AWESOME! :)

I just bought it. When do I receive the e-book? Does it come to my email?

Ask a Manager said...

Yes! You'll get an email within a few minutes that will contain a link for you to download it.

(This assumes you paid by credit card or paypal. If you paid by an e-check, it waits for the e-check to clear before it sends.)

If you have any trouble at all, email me (askamanager@gmail.com) and I'll make sure it gets taken care of for you.

I never buy e-books, even if the topic sounds like it is exactly the information I am looking for. Part of that is my belief that the info in the book is bound to be on the web (free) somewhere else. Alison, I am really pleased to have purchased your new book immediately. I didn't even leave your site "to think about it" or whatever. I have enjoyed reading your blog for over a year; I really thought your Interview info that you distributed for free a couple of weeks ago was great information; and I believe in your skills, credentials, integrity and all that other good stuff. I wish you every success with this book, and will be recommending it to pretty much anyone I know looking for work or a change of position.
Thank you!

Ruby, what you wrote is EXACTLY how I was hoping (some) people might feel. Thanks for saying this -- I am sitting here beaming :)

Any chance folks can get a taste of the contents - Maybe put up a few pages.

If you want a preview of the book, snag the freebie Alison released on How to Interview. That's the best example of what to expect in the eBook!

That's right -- the free "how to prepare for an interview" guide that I released a few weeks ago actually IS an excerpt from the book!
